update main with the java17 edits from 4.0.X#226

All these edits are mostly deletions of stuff from Memory supporting Java 8 & 11 that are not needed for Java 17. Java 17 is much simpler: no JVM internals, no MR-Jars, no toolchains, no JPMS, no extra documentation to support the special build requirements. The README is much simpler. Fewer special scripts. etc. This memory based on Java 17 is pretty much just standard Java, but using Panama, which for Java 17 is still in "incubation". |
